Our products are in bisque form; they become ready for use after glazing and firing.
Painting and Glazing
Our Refsan ready-to-use underglaze paints can be safely applied to both tile and ceramic bisque. Glazing enhances both the aesthetic appearance and durability of the product.
Ceramic Products: When glazing ceramic bisque items, ceramic glazes should be used. Ceramic glazes generally mature between 1040°C and 1050°C, providing a smooth finish and extending the product’s lifespan.
Tile Products: When glazing tile bisque items, tile glazes should be used. Tile glazes are fired at approximately 900°C - 920°C, resulting in a fine and elegant surface.
Firing
Our products are carefully fired at 1050°C to achieve bisque form. This firing temperature increases durability and enhances color vibrancy. Different firing durations and temperatures can affect the surface characteristics and visual appeal of the product.
Acrylic Paint
Acrylic paints can be used for decorative purposes; however, they are not suitable for food contact. A protective varnish is recommended after acrylic painting. Acrylic painting does not require firing and allows for decorative use, but should not be applied to items intended for food use.
Possible Variations in Products
Bisque products produced by casting or wheel throwing may have variations in thickness and size. Casting can result in thin or thick areas depending on the structure of the product. These variations reflect the uniqueness and craftsmanship of each piece.
The use of different clay types can cause natural tone variations. The color of ceramic and tile bisques depends on the type of clay used. For example, white clay produces lighter shades, while red clay results in darker and warmer tones.
Product Durability
Our products become durable after firing and glazing. However, each product type may have different care and usage requirements. Ceramic items are generally more resistant to external factors but require careful handling. Acrylic-painted decorations may wear over time.
Points to Consider During Firing and Glazing
Products should be cleaned and dried before glazing.
Tile and ceramic glazes mature at different temperatures, so the correct firing temperature must be observed.
After acrylic painting, varnishing provides protection against external factors.
Different firing temperatures can affect the color of bisque products, so prior testing is recommended.
