Our products are in bisque form; they become ready for use after glazing and firing.
Painting and Glazing
Our Refsan ready-to-use underglaze paints can be safely used on both tile and ceramic bisque. Glazing enhances both the aesthetic appeal and durability of the product.
Ceramic Products: When glazing ceramic bisque products, ceramic glazes must be used. Ceramic glazes typically mature between 1040°C and 1050°C, providing a smooth surface and increasing longevity.
Tile Products: When glazing tile bisque products, tile glazes must be used. Tile glazes are fired at approximately 900°C - 920°C, offering a fine and elegant finish.
Firing
Our products are carefully fired at 1050°C to achieve bisque form. This firing temperature improves durability and enhances color vibrancy. Different firing durations and temperatures may affect surface characteristics and aesthetics.
Acrylic Paint
Acrylic paints can be used for decoration; however, this process is not suitable for food contact. A protective varnish is recommended after acrylic painting. Acrylic painting does not require firing and is intended for decorative purposes only. Such paints should not be used on products intended for food contact.
Possible Variations in Products
In bisque products produced by casting or wheel throwing, variations in thickness and size may occur. Casting may create thin or thick areas depending on the product’s structure. These differences reflect the uniqueness of each product and the craftsmanship involved.
The use of different clay types can cause natural tone variations. The color of ceramic and tile bisques depends on the clay used. For example, white clay produces lighter-toned bisques, while red clay gives darker and warmer tones.
Product Durability
Our products become durable after firing and glazing. However, care and usage conditions may vary by product type. Ceramic products are generally more resistant to external factors but require careful handling. Acrylic-painted decorations may wear off over time.
Points to Consider During Firing and Glazing
Products should be cleaned and dried before glazing.
Tile and ceramic glazes mature at different temperatures, so the appropriate firing temperature should be followed.
After acrylic painting, varnishing will provide protection against external factors.
Different firing temperatures may affect the color of bisque products, so pre-testing is recommended.
